Comprehensive coverage is a coverage provided to the vehicle in case of the damage caused to the vehicle by those factors which are not under ones control. These factors are rainstorm, earthquake, fire, accident because of some animal etc. it is not compulsory to have the comprehensive insurance but it is mandatory for those who have vehicles that are financed. Comprehensive coverage is helpful because you will get the coverage in case of theft and vandalism.
Comprehensive insurance covers the damage to the vehicle in non accident situation. If the windshield of the car is damaged by the flying stone because of the truck passing by then the damage will paid off by the comprehensive insurance. Along with the damage to the glass the comprehensive coverage will also pay for the damage caused to the vehicle because of fire.
While filing your insurance claim you will first have to pay a certain amount from your pocket which is known as deductibles. You have a choice of deductibles, which can range from actual cash value (ACV) to $500. If you choose ACV, you will pay a higher premium but your coverage will pay the full amount of the claim, which is based on the cost to replace the damaged or stolen property minus depreciation.
But there is one exception which can occur at the time of payment of comprehensive deductibles with regard to the glass claim. if you receive a small crack on the windshield of your car then some insurance companies will allow you to have the crack repaired with no charge under comprehensive coverage but if the windshield cannot be repaired and has to be rep[laced then you will get the comprehensive deductibles.
It is not compulsory to have the comprehensive insurance but if your vehicle values more than $4000 then it is advisable to have the insurance. It is mandatory for those vehicles that are financed to have the comprehensive insurance. Hence in order to save yourself of the expenses by the damage to your vehicle it is necessary to have the comprehensive insurance coverage.
